Q: How do you install the differential carrier cover and seal (left side)?
A:
You can install a new O-ring seal to the differential cover, install the differential cover to the differential, install the dowel pin and the differential cover retaining bolts, install the axle seal into the differential cover, install the LH muffler assembly, install the LH wheel drive shaft and install the LH rear tire and wheel assembly.

A:
The procedure is to remove the following: the LH rear tire and wheel assembly, the LH wheel drive shaft, the LH muffler assembly, the left differential mount, the bolts retaining the differential cover, the differential cover and the O-ring seal, and the axle seal.

Q: What must you do whenever service requires the replacement of the right side differential cover?
A:
You must measure the covers and adjust the right shim pack to compensate for machining tolerances between the two components.

You can tighten the retaining bolts to 28 N.m (20 lb-ft).
