FAQ for Tie Rod End Repair

Q: How do you install the rack and pinion boot?
A:
You need to install the new boot clamp onto the rack and pinion boot. Before rack and pinion boot installation, apply grease to the inner tie rod assembly and the rack and pinion gear assembly. You can install the rack and pinion boot onto the inner tie rod assembly and the rack and pinion boot onto the gear assembly until the rack and pinion boot is seated in the gear assembly groove. Then you can crimp the boot clamp with J 22610 or equivalent, pinch the pliers together on the rack and pinion boot, compress the clamp and install it onto the rack and pinion boot and install the hex jam nut to the inner tie rod assembly and the outer tie rod assembly.
