2006 GMC Yukon Parking Brake Shoe

You need to relieve the tension from the park brake cable by pulling down on the cable in front of the equalizer and removing the cable from the equalizer bar.

You need to install the park brake shoe assembly to the vehicle by placing one of the open ends of the shoe over the axle flange and rotating the shoe until it is behind the flange.

You need to set the J21177-A so that it contacts the inside diameter of the rotor, position the J21177-A over the shoe and the lining at the widest point, turn the adjuster nut until the lining just contacts the J211 77-A, repeat the previous steps for the opposite side, and the clearance between the park brake shoe and the rotor is 0.6604 mm (0.026 inches).

You need to release the parking brake, raise and support the vehicle, remove the tire and wheel assembly, relieve the tension from the park brake cable, remove the rear park brake bracket bolt, the parking brake cable from the park brake actuator lever, the park brake assembly and backing plate from the steering knuckle, the park brake shoe retaining clip bolt and retaining clip, and the park brake shoe from the actuator.

You need to compress the spring by pushing towards the lever, pull the cable housing out of the backing plate, and remove the cable through the slot in the backing plate.
