2006 GMC Yukon Idler Arm

You need to raise and suitably support the vehicle, remove the power steering gear, install the power steering gear into a vise, remove the Pitman Arm nut and washer, and the pitman's arm.

You need to raise the vehicle, remove the nut from the outer tie rod ball stud, the outer tie rod ball stud from the steering knuckle, the Tie Rod End from the shaft, and the outer tie rod end from the relay rod, inspect the shaft for bent or damaged threads and clean the tapered surface of the steering knuckle.

You need to raise the vehicle, remove the engine protection shield, the steering damper from the relay rod, the idler arm ball stud nut, the pitman arm nut, the relay rod from the idler arm ball stud, from the pitman arm ball stud and the vehicle, inspect the threads on the tie rod ends, the ball stud threads and the ball stud seals, and clean the threads on the ball studs.
