FAQ for Timing Cover Repair

Q: How do you replace the engine front cover?
A:
You can remove the generator, the power steering pump, the coolant pump manifold, the crankshaft balancer, and the belt tensioner bolt, reposition the tensioner (which blocks the front cover bolt), remove the oil pan-to-front cover bolts, the front cover bolts, the front cover, and gasket, discard the front cover gasket, remove the oil seal, the camshaft position (CMP) sensor bolt and sensor, remove the O-ring seal and clean and inspect the engine front cover.

Q: What is the recommended torque when you install the CMP sensor and bolt from the front cover?
A:
You can tighten the bolt to 12 Nm (106-inch lbs.).
