You can push the cable connector nose forward to remove the slack and push the cable connector lock button down.

Q: How do you replace the park lock cable?
A:
You can disconnect the negative battery cable, remove the console and the knee bolster bracket, place the transaxle shift control lever in the PARK position, turn the ignition key to the RUN position, slip a screwdriver blade into the slot, depress the cable latch, pull the cable from the inhibitor, remove the park/lock cable from the shift control, remove the cable retainer and remove the park/lock cable.
