2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Exhaust Heat Shield

You can apply a 5 mm (0.2 inches) wide band of thread lock GM P/N 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) or equivalent to the threads of the Exhaust Manifold bolts, install a new exhaust manifold gasket, the exhaust manifold and bolts, bend over the exposed edge of the exhaust manifold gasket, install the exhaust manifold heat shield, the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts, the oil level indicator tube, the left side spark plugs, the exhaust crossover pipe nuts and the exhaust crossover pipe heat shield, install the heater pipe retainer bolts and install the engine sight shield.

The procedure is to remove the catalytic converter, support the exhaust system, remove the exhaust system and clean the catalytic converter and the Muffler mating surfaces.

You can remove the engine sight shield, the air cleaner intake duct, the exhaust crossover pipe heat shield, the exhaust crossover pipe nuts, the exhaust crossover pipe, and the exhaust crossover pipe seal.
