2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Brake Caliper

You can lubricate the new piston seal, install the lubricated, new piston seal, apply a thin coat of Delco Supreme 11(R), GM P/N 12377967 (Canadian P/N 992667), or equivalent, DOT-3 brake fluid onto the outer surface area of the caliper piston, install the bottom half of the caliper piston, install the new piston dust boot seal, compress the caliper piston, fully seat the piston dust boot seal into caliper counterbore, install the retaining ring, install the bleeder valve and cap, tighten the valve securely and install the rear brake caliper.

You can use compressed filtered, non-lubricated air.

You can clean and inspect the threads of the caliper bracket bolts and mounting holes in the knuckle, apply THREADLOCKER, GM P/N 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488), or equivalent to the threads of the brake caliper bracket bolts, install the caliper bracket with the bracket bolts, install the rear brake pads and install the caliper.

The procedure is to remove the rear brake caliper, the brake caliper piston, the retaining ring, and the piston dust boot seal, remove and discard the piston seal, clean and dry the brake caliper piston bore and seal counterbore, and the caliper piston, inspect the caliper bore, attempt to remove the imperfection with a fine emery paper, replace the caliper assembly and inspect the caliper piston.

You should remove the tire and wheel.
