2005 Buick Rainier Brake Caliper

You should drain all the brake fluid from the caliper, pad the interior of the caliper with clean shop towels, use just enough air pressure to ease the piston out of the bore, remove the boots from the caliper bores, the piston seals from the caliper bores, the bleeder valve cap and the bleeder valve from the caliper housing, clean the bleeder valve, the caliper bores, the caliper passages and the pistons with denatured alcohol, dry the parts and blow out the brake fluid passages and replace the pistons or the caliper.

You should raise the vehicle, remove the tire and wheel assembly, inspect the brake caliper assembly, support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic's wire, or equivalent, remove the rear brake caliper assembly, relocate the brake caliper to the side, inspect the brake pads, remove the front brake pads from the mounting bracket, inspect the brake hardware, remove the brake pad retaining clips from the mounting bracket, the brake caliper mounting bracket retaining bolts, the brake caliper mounting bracket and the guide pin seals from the brake caliper mounting bracket and inspect the brake rotor.

You should raise the vehicle, remove the tire and wheel assembly, inspect the brake caliper assembly and the brake pads, remove the front brake pads from the mounting bracket, inspect the brake hardware, remove the brake pad retaining clips from the mounting bracket, inboard brake pad shown, the brake caliper mounting bracket retaining bolts, lower bolt shown, the brake caliper mounting bracket and the guide pin seals from the brake caliper mounting bracket and inspect the brake rotor.

You should raise the vehicle, remove the tire and wheel assembly and the front brake hose bolt, install a plug in the front brake caliper hose to prevent excessive brake fluid loss and contamination., discard the metal/copper gaskets and remove the front brake caliper guide pin bolts and the front brake caliper from the mounting bracket.

The recommended torque is 42 Nm (31 ft-lbs).
