You should use hand pressure only when installing the valve stem oil seal using the J 42863. Using too much force may cause the oil seal to leak and possibly lead to excessive oil consumption.

Q: What should be noticed when removing the Valve Stem Oil Seal and Valve Spring?
A:
You should rotate the engine so that the piston in the cylinder that you are servicing is at the top dead center before removing the valve keys. You should do this to eliminate the possibility of the valve falling into the cylinder.

A:
You should remove the left valve rocker arm cover, remove the right valve rocker arm cover, remove the valve rocker arm pedestal retaining bolts, remove the pedestal, remove the rocker arm assembly and the Pushrods, clean the bolts of all thread adhesive and clean and inspect the valve rocker arms and pushrods.
Q: How do I install the Valve Lifter?
A:
You should dip the Valve Lifters in preluke GM P/N 12345501 (Canadian P/N 992704) or the equivalent, install the valve lifters, install the valve lifter guides, install the valve guide retainer, install the lower intake manifold and gaskets and install the valve rocker arms, pushrods, and the pedestals.
