Q: What is the removal procedure for lubricant of the rear drive axle (8.6 Inch Axle)?
A:
You need to raise the vehicle, remove the rear axle fill plug, remove and discard the rear axle housing cover bolts, remove the rear axle housing cover and drain the lubricant into a suitable container. You also need to remove any gasket material from the rear axle housing and/or the rear axle housing cover and inspect the bottom of the rear axle housing for excessive metal particle accumulation.
