2004 Cadillac CTS Oil Pan

The proper way is to lubricate the NEW Oil Filter Adapter O-ring with clean engine oil, install the new O-ring into the oil filter adapter groove, position the oil filter adapter to the engine block, install the O-ring onto the oil filter adapter plug, install the oil filter adapter plug, install the left catalytic converter, and then install the oil filter.

The procedure is to position the oil drain pan under the oil pan drain plug, remove the oil pan drain plug and allow the engine oil to drain, clean and inspect the oil pan drain plug, remove the Oil Filter cartridge housing drain plug and allow the engine oil to drain into the drain pan, remove the plastic cap from the oil filter cartridge housing, and then remove the oil filter cartridge from the plastic cap.

You should grasp the oil level indicator tube firmly, pull the oil level indicator tube upward from the engine block, and then remove the O-ring seals from the oil level indicator tube.
