You should lightly oil the replacement Oil Filter gasket with clean oil and install the new oil filter, install the new oil filter and the engine oil drain plug, remove the oil drain pan, lower the vehicle and fill the engine with new engine oil.

You should raise and suitably support the vehicle, remove the oil filter, remove the oil filter bypass hole plug, insert a flat-bladed tool into the oil filter bypass hole and force the bypass valve out, remove the oil filter bypass valve and remove the Oil Filter Adapter.

You can remove the case side cover, remove the Oil Pump bolts, remove the oil pump from the valve body and inspect the oil pump.
