2002 Buick LeSabre Oil Filter

The recommended torque is 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).

You can raise and support the vehicle, position the oil drain pan under the engine oil drain plug, remove the engine oil drain plug, clean and inspect the engine oil drain plug, repair or replace it if necessary, then clean and inspect the engine oil drain plug sealing surface on the oil pan, repair or replace oil pan if necessary, then remove the oil filter and clean and inspect the oil filter sealing area on the oil filter adapter, repair or replace if necessary.

The installation procedure is to install the oil pump screen gasket, the oil pump screen, the oil pump screen bolts, and the oil pan.

The removal procedure is to remove the oil pan, the oil pump pipe screen bolts, the oil pump screen, and the gasket use solvent to clean the screen and the housing and blow dry the screen and the housing, then clean the gasket mating surfaces.

You may need to lightly oil the replacement oil filter gasket with clean oil, install the new oil filter and the engine oil drain plug, lower the vehicle and fill the engine with new engine oil then inspect for oil leaks.
