Q: What should be noticed before servicing the body control module?
A:
You must not clear the DTCs unless directed to do so by the service information provided for each diagnostic procedure. All of the diagnostic data that was saved along with the DTC which may be helpful for some diagnostic procedures will be erased from the memory when the DTCs are cleared.

The Body Control Module (BCM) must be programmed with the proper RPO configurations. The BCM stores the information regarding the vehicle options and if the BCM is not properly configured with the correct RPO codes the BCM will not control the features properly.
