Q: What is the removal procedure for the fuel pump pickup filter?
A:
You need to disconnect the negative battery cable, relieve the fuel system pressure, drain the fuel tank, remove the fuel tank and the fuel sender assembly, note the position of the fuel strainer on the fuel sender, support the fuel sender assembly, grasp the strainer, pull the strainer off the fuel sender, discard the strainer after inspection, and inspect the strainer.

A:
The fuel strainer attaches to the lower end of the fuel sender. The fuel strainer is made of woven plastic. The functions of the fuel strainer are to filter contaminants and to wick fuel. The fuel strainer is self-cleaning and normally requires no maintenance.
