2001 GMC Savana 1500 A/C Clutch

You need to recover the refrigerant, remove the compressor and the clutch plate and hub assembly, remove the pulley rotor and the bearing assembly retaining ring, install the J 33023-A and the J 41552, turn the J 41552 clockwise in the slots in the rotor, and remove the pulley rotor and bearing assembly, mark the clutch coil terminal location, install the J 33023-A, the J 8433-1 and the J 33025, tighten the J 8433-3 against the puller pilot to remove the clutch coil, and remove the clutch coil.

You need to remove the air compressor, install the compressor in the vise, attach the compressor to the J 34992, remove the shaft protector from the clutch hub shaft, and ensure that the center screw forces the tip to thrust against the end of the shaft, thread the J 33013-B into the hub, turn the center screw into the remover body to remove the clutch plate and hub assembly, remove the shaft key and the old clutch plate and hub assembly.

The procedure is to hold the J 41552 in position, tighten the puller screw against the puller guide, and remove the pulley rotor and bearing assembly.

You should not drive or pound on the clutch hub or shaft. Internal damage to the compressor may result. The forcing tip on the J 33013-B remover/installer center screw must be flat or the end of the shaft/axial plate assembly will be damaged.
