You need to apply LOCTITE GM P/N 12345382 (or equivalent) to the Wheel Cylinder shoulder face which contacts the backing plate, spread the brake shoes apart, install the wheel cylinder, and the wheel cylinder bolts, then remove the cap from the brake pipe and install the brake pipe to the wheel cylinder, bleed the hydraulic brake system at the wheel cylinder, install the brake drum, install the tire and wheel, then lower the vehicle.

You need to remove the Brake Master Cylinder, next secure the mounting flange of the brake master cylinder in a bench vise so that the rear of the primary piston is accessible, then clean the outside of the master cylinder reservoir on and around the reservoir cap before removing the cap and diaphragm, and remove the reservoir cap and diaphragm from the reservoir. Then inspect the reservoir cap and diaphragm for any cuts or cracks, nicks, or deformation, and remove the master cylinder reservoir from the master cylinder, next depress the primary piston and remove the piston retainer, and remove the primary piston assembly from the cylinder bore, plug the cylinder inlet ports and the rear outlet port, finally discard the primary piston assembly, the piston retainer, and the seals and seal retainer from the secondary piston.

When adding fluid to the brake master cylinder reservoir, use only Delco Supreme 11 (GM P/N 12377967) or equivalent DOT-3 brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container.
