A:
The procedure is to turn off the ignition, remove the ignition key, and the inflator module, place the inflator module on a workbench with the vinyl trim cover facing up and away from the work surface, inspect the J 38826 SIR deployment harness and the appropriate pigtail adapter for damage, connect the appropriate pigtail adapter, extend the SIR deployment harness and adapter to full length from the deployment fixture, connect the inflator module, disconnect the pigtail adapter from the inflator module as soon as possible, and wash hands with a mild soap.

You can disable the SIR system, turn the steering wheel until two of the opening/holes are on top, install the J 44298 into two of the holes, push the handle back towards the IP, release the two spring-loaded fasteners, turn the steering wheel and repeat the same steps for the other two opening/holes, pull the inflator module gently away from the steering wheel, remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA), the horn contact lead, and the inflator module.

The procedure is to remove the ignition key, put on safety glasses, remove all loose objects from the front seats, disconnect the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil connector, cut two 4.6 M (15 ft) deployment wires from a 0.8 mm (18 gauge) or thicker multi-strand wire, connect the deployment harness to the steering wheel module coil connector, disconnect the inflatable restraint side impact module-LF connector, twist together one connector wire lead to one deployment wire, disconnect the inflatable restraint IP module connector, route the deployment harness out of the passenger side of the vehicle, and disconnect all harnesses from the vehicle.
