Q: Why do my new lifters always make a slight ticking noise?

Q: What's the proper way to remove the valve lifters?
A:
The proper way is to remove the lower intake manifold, the valve rocker arms and the valve pushrods, and the valve lifters, then clean any varnish from the valve lifter bores, inspect the valve lifter bores for excessive wear or scoring, inspect the camshaft for wear or damage, finally clean and inspect the valve lifters and the valve pushrod guide.
