Q: What should we know about the burnishing pads and rotors?
A:
After replacing the brake linings and/or refinishing rotors, the new braking surface should be broken in or burnished. To burnish, make 20 stops from 48 km (30 mph) using medium to firm brake pedal pressure. Be careful not to overheat the brakes while performing the burnishing procedure.

Q: What should be noted when installing brake rotor (C3500HD (Front))?
A:
Any new rotor must have the protective coating removed from the friction surfaces before being placed in service. You should use Goodwrench Brake Parts Cleaner P/N 123777981 or the equivalent, wipe the surface clean with clean cloths, and do not use gasoline, kerosene, or other oil base solvents which may leave an oily residue. This residue is damaging to the brake lining and is flammable.
