The proper way is to inspect the accelerator pedal free play with the throttle valve closed, loosen the accelerator cable locknut at the throttle body bracket, turn the accelerator cable adjusting nut in order to obtain the specified accelerator pedal free play, make the accelerator pedal free play is within the specified value, install the accelerator cable locknut, tighten the accelerator cable locknut to 23 N.m (17 lb-ft), and then adjust the height of the accelerator pedal stop (1) in order to obtain the specified accelerator cable end play.
