FAQ for Brake Master Cylinder Bleeder Tool Repair

Q: What is the procedure for the automated bleed?
A:
The procedure is to select Automated Bleed Procedure on the scan tool and follow the instructions, cycle the pump and front release valves for 1 minute, remove pressure from J 29532 and then disconnect J 29532 from the vehicle, depress the brake pedal to gauge the pedal height and feel, remove the scan tool from the DLC, install the tire and wheels assemblies, lower the vehicle, inspect the brake fluid level in the master cylinder, and then road test the vehicle while verifying that the brake pedal remains high and firm.

Q: What is the procedure for pressure bleeding?
A:
The procedure is to install a J 37762 to the master cylinder, charge the J 29532 to 140 to 172 kPa (20 to 25 psi), connect the J 29532 line to the J 37762 and open the line valve, remove the bleeder valve cap, attach a clear plastic or vinyl tube to the bleeder valve, loosen the bleeder valve about 1/2 turn, install the bleeder valve cap, replenish the brake fluid in the master cylinder reservoir to the MAX mark and install the cap, pump the brake pedal, inspect the hydraulic brake system for leaks, inspect the brake pedal feel for sponginess and the brake indicator for an indication of an unbalanced pressure, and then remove the J 37762 and the J 29532 from the master cylinder.

Q: What is the procedure for the master cylinder bench bleeding?
A:
The procedure is to install the reservoir to the master cylinder, fill the master cylinder reservoir with brake fluid and keep full throughout the entire bleeding process, install adapters into each master cylinder outlet port, attach a piece of plastic tubing to each adapter and submerge the other ends in the reservoir, make sure the tubes remain submerged in the fluid, and then slowly push in the master cylinder piston and release.
