The proper way is to remove the Timing Chain housing, remove the spark plugs to make rotating the crankshaft to line up the timing marks easier, remove the camshaft timing chain tensioner and the gasket, and then remove the camshaft sprockets and chain.

The procedure is to remove the timing chain housing, remove the Camshaft timing chain and the exhaust camshaft sprocket, remove the exhaust camshaft bearing caps, and then remove the valve lifters.

The proper way is to apply a liberal amount of lubricant to the roller pivot pocket and valve slot areas of the camshaft followers, place the camshaft followers in position on the valve tip and the SHLA and then install the left camshafts.
