Q: What is the proper way to install the fuel rail?
A:
You can replace the O-rings on all components, oil the fuel injector O-rings with clean motor oil, place the fuel rail assembly on the intake manifold, seat the fuel injectors, install the fuel rail hold-down bolts, connect the fuel injector electrical connectors, push down the lock release lever, connect the fuel feed and return pipes, connect the vacuum line, install the ignition coil wires, tighten the fuel fill cap, connect the negative battery cable, inspect for leaks and install the fuel injection sight shield.

Q: How do you replace the fuel rail?
A:
You can relieve the fuel pressure from the fuel system, clean the fuel rail assembly and connections, disconnect the fuel feed and return pipes, disconnect the vacuum line, remove the ignition coil wires, pull up the lock release, depress the lock tab, lift the connector from the fuel injectors, remove the fuel rail hold-down bolts, raise the injectors and remove the fuel rail with equal force on both sides of the fuel rail.

The procedure is to relieve the fuel pressure, clean any dirt from the fuel pressure regulator retaining ring, remove the vacuum line and the snap ring, lift and twist the fuel pressure regulator, remove the regulator small O-ring, the regulator large O-ring, and the regulator back up O-ring and cover the fuel pressure regulator housing.

Q: How do you replace the fuel pressure release?
A:
You can disconnect the negative battery cable, remove the fuel injection sight shield, loosen the fuel filler cap, remove the fuel pressure fitting cap, connect the J34730-1A fuel pressure gauge to the fuel pressure connection, install the bleed hose, open the valve to bleed the fuel system pressure and drain any fuel remaining in the fuel pressure gauge.

You can install the new O-rings, the regulator backup O-ring, the regulator large O-ring, the regulator small O-ring, the fuel pressure regulator, and the snap ring, connect the vacuum line, tighten the fuel fill cap, connect the negative battery cable, inspect for leaks and reinstall the fuel injection sight shield.
