About Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera
The Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera was a mid-size car produced and sold between 1982 and 1996. It was available as a two-door coupe, four-door sedan and four-door station wagon. The Cutlass Ciera and its dual A-body featured McPherson strut front suspension, urethane bumpers, windshield, front-wheel drive and fuel injection on many cars. Oldsmobile created the Cutlass sub-brand as a part of their range of mainstream sedans and coupes with the introduction of the Ciera.
The G-Body was put in place of the Cutlass Ciera with rear-wheel drive by the Ciera. So, the sedan with 4WD was given the A-Body name, which was previously only used for models with RWD. For the 1982 model year, General Motors changed the name of the rear-wheel-drive mid-size platform to "G-Body." This was done so that they could keep making cars on both lines. The standard motor was a Tech IV with four cylinders. All cars came with cloth seats and upholstery as standard. All Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera came with either a 3.0-liter V6 engine from Buick or a 4.3-liter V6 from Oldsmobile. Brougham models had parts like vinyl seats, chrome trim that was optional, and a reading lamp.

In 1983, coupe and sedan were equipped with the new ES package. This was the last year that 13-inch wheels were standard equipment. The special edition Holiday Coupe was added to the equipment list at the 1983 Oldsmobile Spring Road Show. In 1984, the model range was expanded with the new Cruiser wagon. Buick's 3.8-liter V6 was available, and the Holiday Coupe package returned to the optional parts list for the first year, along with a four-speed manual transmission for a diesel vehicle. This transmission was removed from the option list in the fall of 1983. In 1985, the Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera received its first facelift: the grille, headlights, taillights and interior were updated. In addition to the ES sedan, a GT coupe model was also introduced.
The 1986 Cutlass Ciera had larger vents than the 1985 model, and the coupe received a modified roofline that was not originally shared with other GM A-Body models but was later introduced on the coupe. These models can be identified by the modified roofline and updated VIN. The 2.8-liter engine was previously offered in Canadian Cutlass Ciera with a two-liter carburetor. The 1986 Ciera was the first model to feature brake lights as standard. The factory nameplate is located on the fiberglass rear panel just below the trunk lid. The 1987 Cutlass Ciera has been redesigned with a new air intake grille. And the Oldsmobile logo has been moved to the center and right of the redesigned steering wheel.
