About Mazda Miata
Mazda Miata, or the MX-5 in Europe and Asia-Pacific, and Roadster in Japan, is a lightweight two-passenger roadster sports car manufactured and marketed by Mazda. Its success lies in the fact that consumers can buy a car that can be more fun to drive at an affordable price, compared to expensive sports cars such as Porsche and Ferrari, etc. In April 2014, the car series was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the best-selling two-seater roadster with more than 940,000 units sold worldwide; in April 2016, the total number of global sales exceeded one million units.
The "Roadster" model has a long history: between the 1950s and 1970s, many now-defunct British car manufacturers built the type one after another, such as MG's MGB, Triumph's Spitfire, and TR7, Austin Healey's DD300, and Lotus' Elan. TR7, Austin Healey's DD300, Lotus's Elan, and so on. However, later on, the GT supercar with more horsepower and ample cabin space was gradually shining all over the world, and there were simply only a few pure-blooded roadsters on the market at that time.

In 1989, Mazda Japan launched a small two-seater roadster called MX-5, or Mazda Miata in North America, equipped with a mere 1.6L engine in the industry at the time in pursuit of the high horsepower trend is an anomaly. However, the first year it was launched, Mazda Miata had achieved a record of about 23,000 in North America, and the following year, it sold about 36,000. Such impressive results led other manufacturers to develop two-seat convertibles, including the Mercedes-Benz SLK series, BMW Z3, and Porsche Boxster, all of which were stimulated by the Mazda Miata's sales success.
In 2000, the Mazda Miata was on the list of the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's best-selling two-seat roadster with a total production run of 531,890 units. In 2004, the total production run of Mazda Miata exceeded 700,000 units and was again listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. On February 4, 2011, the cumulative sales of the car reached 900,000 units worldwide and were listed in record books for the third time. In April 2016, it surpassed 1 million units. The company did not develop the Miata with a call for big exhaust and horsepower, but rather to offer the driver a vehicle with just the right amount of power, and even weight ratio (nearly 50:50 for this car), and pure driving pleasure.
