About Mazda CX-7
The Mazda CX-7 was a mid-size crossover SUV manufactured and marketed by Mazda. It was the production version of the MX-Crossport concept car. The Mazda CX-7 was introduced to the public and had its debut at the 2006 Los Angeles Auto Show. The assembly lines were in the company's Ujina #2 factory that was located in Hiroshima, Japan. The CX-7 was Mazda's first mid-size crossover SUV ever since the discontinuation of the Navajo in 1994. The model was positioned under the CX-9 and didn't share the production platform with it. It adopted a Ford C1 platform which was also used for the Ford Focus and Mazda3 models. the production of the Mazda CX-7 was discontinued in 2012 as the CX-5 took over its place in the market.
The Mazda CX-7 was given a 2.3L inline 4-cylinder MZR L3-VDT DISI turbo engine which the Mazdaspeed3 and Mazdaspeed6 also used. The engine parts were also given a 6-speed Aisin F21 automatic transmission that also had manual shift capability. The combination of the parts could provide the vehicle with 244 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 258 lb-ft of torque at 2500 rpm. The 2.3L DISI turbo engine was adopted for the power system for better performance so as to deliver torque at a lower rpm for less turbo lag off the line at the cost of power. The same design for the engine parts was also used for the redesigned smaller K04 turbocharger which was used for the United Kingdom specification models.
