About Lincoln LS

The Lincoln LS is a front- and rear-wheel drive entry-level luxury midsize sedan produced by Ford Motor Company from 1999 to 2006. Its conversion is based on the company's DEW98 platform, which shares with several other sedans of the brand. It was developed with the goal of attracting customers who don't normally put "Lincoln" on their luxury car shopping list and later pushed the affordable luxury vehicle to a new level with the most competitive price of any model in its class. The base car price of its LSV-8 version is thousands of dollars less than that of other V-8 luxury sedans.
In 1999, the Lincoln LS appeared as the first rear-wheel-drive sport luxury sedan for the 2000 model year, influenced by the newly established Premier Automotive Group. The company originally separated the sedan into two versions, the LS6 and the LS8, which in name reflect their respective engine layouts. The Lincoln LS shared the same platform, DEW98, and equipment with the Jaguar S-Type. The platform applied the front with an independent double-wishbone, rear suspensions, and a 114.5-inch (2,910 mm) wheelbase. The four-wheel antilock disc brakes were standard along with an optional traction control system, named AdvanceTrac. Aluminum material was widely used including suspension components, the hood, decklid, and front fenders. The Lincoln LS was nominated for Motor Trend's Car of the Year for 2000 and the North American Car of the Year award.
