About Kia Soul
The Kia Soul is a compact SUV manufactured by Kia and sold worldwide. The Soul was designed by Mike Torpey in early 2005. Torpey, a new member of Kia's design team in Irvine, California, was sent to Korea to create the new vehicle. After watching a TV documentary about wild pigs and learning about their importance in Korean culture, Torpey drew a picture of a pig in a backpack. It is inspired by Volkswagen's canceled SUV design. It was based on the Volkswagen Fox platform developed by Peter Schreyer, who became Kia's chief designer in 2006 and used the design in the car. The first-generation model features a six-speaker stereo system, a CD player, a USB port for connecting an iPod and Sirius satellite radio. Other features include additional speakers, steering wheel-mounted controls, and Bluetooth for hands-free calling.
Special features of the Soul White Tiger include a white and translucent gray body style, body-color bumpers, a sporty rear spoiler, and 18-inch black wheels. Kia introduced the Soul Flex at the 2010 International Auto Show. The Flex is Korea's first flex-fuel vehicle that can run on any gasoline blend, from E20-E25 to E100. The new Soul Flex is 44% more fuel-efficient than the previous gasoline model and has more power and torque. For the 2012 model year, it has two new transmissions and a new engine. A 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission replace the previous options, while a new 2.0-liter Nu engine replaces the previous Beta engine. The optional 1.6-liter Gamma engine remains standard. The Soul received the highest safety rating (five stars) in the Australian New Car Assessment Program.

Kia has announced that the vehicle will enter production in 2009. The Kia Soul Burner, Diva, and Searcher were concept vehicles developed by Kia's European design team, led by chief designer Peter Schreyer. The Burner has a fixed roof with no roof rack, four bucket seats, and L-shaped LED daytime running lights on the outer edges. At the rear, there are two vertical exhaust outlets at the ends of the bumper. The Kia Soul Searcher is designed to reflect the spirit of Korean and Far Eastern culture. The goal is to achieve personal inner peace and create a tranquil environment for the occupants. The hood, power roof, tailgate, dashboard, door panels, steering wheel, and gray and beige seats and floor are done in a historical style. It is a concept vehicle that is a compact SUV with a two-door body with four seats and an open roof over the rear seats.
The new design features raised taillights, a large trapezoidal air intake at the bottom, and an eye-catching "floating" panel on the tailgate. The first models launched in the U.S. in 2014 were equipped with Gamma GDI or Nu GDI engines. The second-generation Kia Soul shares a platform with the second-generation Kia Cee'd. Sixty-six percent of the chassis is made of ultra-high-strength or high-strength steel. Four bushings are used in the front underbody, and the rear torsion bars are now mounted vertically to increase suspension travel. The Kia Soul underwent a facelift for the 2017 model year, including minor body cladding changes, new paint colors, and new headlight options. The biggest changes are in the top-level version, where a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine has replaced the old 2.0-liter Nu engine.
