This sport utility vehicle made its debut in 2008 and sold in the markets of Korea and the U.S. The name Kia Borrego comes from the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in California, in which Borrego means "big-horned sheep".
The first generation is produced from 2008 to 2019. It is assembled in Hwasung Plant, Hwasung in South Korea and Kaliningrad (Avtotor) in Russia, and Ust-Kamenogorsk in Kazakhstan. Designed by Peter Schreyer, Borrego is a model which has won many awards over the past years. Borrego is powered by petrol engine parts of 3.8 L Lambda II MPi V6, 4.6 L Tau MPi V8 and diesel engine parts of 3.0 L S CRDi V6 and 3.0 L S II CRDi V6. They are mated with 5-speed A5SR2 automatic, 6-speed ZF 6HP26 automatic, and 8-speed A8TR1 automatic transmission. As for the data of its dimensions, it is 2,895 mm in its wheelbase.
