In 2004, Kia made a brand-new car model called the Amanti. It was made to compete better with cars made by other companies and to offer a wide range of reliable parts, trim levels, and options. In 2003, the four-door, five-seat, a front-wheel-drive sedan made its world debut. The KIA Amanti was a vehicle that puts comfort and luxury ahead of speed and handling. The Amanti is Kia's first premium car and replaces the Mazda 929 Enterprise in the Korean market. The Amanti is also the first car to share a platform with sister company Hyundai, using a variant of the Y4 platform. The chassis has been lengthened by 1.9 inches, increasing overall length by 4.1 inches and height by 2.6 inches. It was Kia's largest sedan and was offered in a single trim level that shared parts with the Grandeur/XG and with a range of engines, including a 3.5-liter V6. All models were manufactured at the Hwaseong plant near Incheon.
