About Infiniti FX50
The 2009 Infiniti FX50 is a midsize luxury crossover SUV. It comes standard with 21-inch alloy wheels, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel with driver memory settings, and dual-zone automatic climate control with a filtration system. Infiniti's FX series has been redesigned this year, with the FX50 replacing the FX45 at the top of the model range. The redesigned model's price-to-performance ratio makes it a compelling option, and it has a lot going for it. Infiniti calls it a "radical expression of sport and utility," and this one's pretty accurate. It is Infiniti's top-of-the-line crossover, replacing the outgoing FX45 that debuted in 2003. It is one of the first crossovers to show high performance and car style.
The FX45 never caught on with buyers because it didn't offer much power over the FX35. So Infiniti is trying again with the FX50. Power is sent to all four wheels through a seven-speed automatic transmission with manual shift control. The new 390-horsepower 5.0-liter V8 replaces the previous 320-hp 4.5-liter V8. This translates into straight-line acceleration-- try zero to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds. Under its hood is a 5.0-liter V8 that makes 390 hp and 369 pound-feet of torque. It is built on Infiniti's latest version and is said to be stiffer than before.

On the positive side, the FX50 boasts a new interior with inviting interfaces and former options. Its climate-control system has an air purifier and filter. There's also a new navigation system and safety features, including active braking and an advanced lane-departure warning system. It is estimated that the fuel economy for this engine is 14 mpg city/20 mpg highway. Antilock disc brakes with brake assist, front-seat-mounted side airbags, and stability control are all standard on the FX50. In crash tests, the FX scored five stars for its protection of occupants, and in Insurance Institute for Highway Safety frontal-offset testing, the FX earned the top score.
Speed is the FX50's prime directive. With its automatic clicking off admirably quick upshifts, you can hardly find that the FX50 doesn't feel geared up for action. On a twisty road, the FX50 handles like a sport wagon, diving turns quicker than one would expect.
