The Fit Hybrid uses the 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC Atkinson-cycle engine mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Unlike the previous IMA Hybrid, the new hybrid can now run on electricity alone while driving, making it comparable to the Toyota Prius. Fuel consumption in Japan is only 37 km/l for the upgraded base model. The trunk capacity is 470 liters. Like the outgoing model, the RS variant receives aesthetic tweaks in the form of a sporty body kit, 16-inch wheels, red interior stitching, and sport pedals. All models are equipped with a multi-angle rear camera. A dynamic manual is included on higher trims. An optional Honda side camera is also available for the front passenger. The commemorative "Final Edition" was launched on December 1, 2020, to mark the end of Honda Fit sales in the Mexican market.
On October 23, 2019, the fourth generation Fit was launched simultaneously in Japan. It retains the large windshield for optimal forward vision but differs from the previous generation by a new design and a transverse structure for the front seats. According to Honda, this improves body damping in the event of a collision. This model will not be sold in the U.S. market due to the declining sales of its predecessor. Production of the HR-V has been increased to compensate for the discontinuation of the Fit. This model will also not be sold in Australia, where it is known as the Jazz. Import costs were deemed too high, and the small car market has declined due to the popularity of small SUVs. In Europe, the Jazz will go on sale as a hybrid model in mid-2020, as Honda will stop producing traditional internal combustion engines in the region by 2022.
