About Geo Storm
The Geo Storm was a sport compact car manufactured by Isuzu and marketed by Geo in the United States. It was in production from 1990 to 1993. The Geo was provided in two different body types, a 3-door hatchback, and a 3-door liftback. It adopted a GM P platform for its front-engine front-wheel-drive layout. The Geo Storm was a rebadged variant version of the second-generation Isuzu Impulse. It had less luxurious parts and accessories than its prototype for it was aimed at being a budget car with the look and feel of a sports car. The assembly lines for the sport compact were at Isuzu's main plant in Fujisawa, Kanagawa, Japan.
The Geo Storm was most popular with its 3-door liftback form. The hatchback was provided in 2 trim kits, the base Storm and the GSi, with different parts and accessories. Standard equipment pieces for both trims included the front disc, rear drum brakes, and anti-sway bar to tighten the front suspension. The base model was given a 1.6L SOHC 4XE1 inline 4-cylinder engine and a 5-speed manual transmission for its powering system. It could offer 95 horsepower the vehicle with a 9.1:1 compression ratio. The GSi received a 1.6L DOHC that could produce 130 horsepower with a 9.8:1 compression ratio. The GSi also received additional parts and accessories including a spoiler, a rear anti-sway bar, driving lights, and a transmission with a gear ratio that was slightly better for acceleration.

In 1992, the Geo Storm was redesigned. The exterior parts and accessories were given a smoother front fascia without the former pop-up headlight covers. The interior parts and accessories were also changed a bit. The revised parts included different stereos, interior trim and upholstery, and the locations of the rear speaker. The GSi was also given a better powertrain for better performance. It was a 1.8L DOHC 4XF1 inline 4-cylinder that could offer 140 horsepower. Other additional parts and accessories included a new instrument panel and gauge graphics. A new spoiler was given to the GSi while a new rear bumper treatment was prepared for the base Geo Storm.
The performance of the Geo Storm was respectable for an economical compact car for its time. It was described as the second fastest among sport compact cars through the slalom and stops shorter from 130 km/h than many highly respected sports cars. The Geo was also able to get the highest skidpad rating for 0.85g. Celebrity races for the Geo Storm were held in 1991.
