About Eagle Summit
The Eagle Summit is a series of subcompact vehicles produced by the Japanese company, Mitsubishi Motors. Overall the Eagle Summit has two generations. The Summit has been known for its excellent parts and accessories. The Eagle Summit was sold by American Motors Company at first, while Chrysler Corporation acquired AMC in 1987. Even so, it was sold from 1989 to 1996 in the name of the Eagle Summit. The Summit was assembled in Okayama, Japan at first. Later, the plant in Illinois, USA was established.
The Eagle Summit made its debut as a sedan in 1989. It had two trim levels: DL and LX. Both were equipped with 1.5-liter 8-valve four-cylinder engine parts, generating 81 horsepower (60 kW). A 1.6-liter, 16-valve DOHC engine is available on the LX level with 123 horsepower (92 kW). It adopted an FF layout. There are four available options for the transmission: A three-speed automatic, a four-speed automatic, a four-speed manual, and a five-speed manual. As for the detailed dimensions, it has a total wheelbase of 2,385 mm. The Eagle Summit is 170.1 in long, 65.7 in wide, and 52.8 in high. Though short-lived, the Eagle brand enjoyed popularity among customers for its exceptional quality, as well as its delicate design in OEM parts and accessories. One obvious advantage is the roomy cargo space. With a total of 100.7 cubic feet of room, the Eagle Summit outperforms its competitors. It has ample back legroom as well. In 1991, four more valves were added to produce more horsepower. The ES versions switched back to front-only disc brakes and 13-inch (330 mm) wheels. The two-door hatchback was released with base and ES trim levels. The hatchback models were shorter and lower than the sedans. Brand-new front grille parts were standard on all levels. In 1994, a major facelift was conducted. A driver's side airbag was installed in every model, taking the place of one of the motorized seat belts. The 1.8-liter engine from the lower-end DL sedan was given to the LX trim level and became an option for the ES coupe. With the ES sedan, bigger 14-inch (360 mm) wheels were added. The Eagle Summit entered its last production year with new paint shades and interior parts and accessories in 1996.
In the 1990s, people did not have much interest in cars provided by Japanese manufacturers. However, they are now attempting to bring these cars back after a few decades.
