About Chevrolet Celebrity
The Chevrolet Celebrity is a mid-size auto produced by the Chevrolet division of General Motors from the 1982 to 1990 model years. It was based on the GM's A platform and was equipped with a 2.5L inline-four and a 2.8L V6 engine from the Citation. The 4.3L diesel V6 was offered as an option. The 1984 version of Celebrity was able to produce 130hp of power, and in the next year, the 2.8L HO V6 received fuel injection. The 2.5L version also received an update in 1986. The diesel V6 engine was removed in the same year. For the 1987 model year, the fuel-injected HO V6 became the only V6 available, and in 1990, the 2.8L V6 was replaced by the 3.1L version.
The transmission types, generally changed along with the correspondent engines of the Chevrolet Celebrity. Initially, a 3-speed automatic was given to the model and was shifted to a 4-speed manual or automatic. In 1987, three transmissions were offered for choice: a 3-speed automatic as standard, a 4-speed automatic as optional for V6, and a 5-speed Getrag-supplied manual also as optional for V6. The 5-speed version was removed after the 1988 model year and the 3 or 4-speed automatic was paired to the correspondent parts. View our website for more information.

Based on the A platform, the Chevrolet Celebrity was designed as a 2-door coupe or a 4-door sedan, and the 4-door station wagon model was introduced as well, which was updated to 5 doors in 1984. All Chevy shared a 104.8 inches wheelbase, with different sizes for different body styles. The coupe and the sedan shared the same dimension, while the wagon was slightly bigger. The platform was derived from the X-body chassis and was available with two different bolt patterns on the wheel hub. Also, the transaxles and brakes were different, referring to vented or non-vented disc brakes. The design inspired the model for fleet or taxi use. For other components, the mid-size Chevy station wagon was given a third-row seat for the first time in 1987, and in 1990, the model was installed door-mounted seatbelts due to passive-restraint regulations.
