About Chevrolet C3500
In 1991, GM introduced the 15,000-pound Chevrolet C3500 model under the Chevrolet nameplates. It was positioned to bridge the gap between light and medium-duty trucks. It was offered as a standard chassis cab only, and until 1996 a crew chassis cab was also offered. It is unclear whether the crew chassis cab was used only for fleet orders or was available to the public. Although such a conversion was accomplished, an extended cab was never offered. All paint colors and most options are available in the Chevy. Upper cab marker/gap lights are not optional on the C3500. The two mirror options are Camping Style and West Coast Style.
The common driveshaft on the model is the Dana 80, an 85.8-inch wide full-floating axle with an 11-inch ring gear with 19.5-inch x 6.0 wheels. The front axle is a sturdy I-beam drop axle, similar to those found on medium and heavy autos. Both front and rear leaf spring axles have disc brakes. It is offered with two transmissions; the 4L80E 4-speed OD automatic transmission and the NV4500 5-speed manual transmission. Available wheelbases are 135.5, 159.5 and 183.5 inches (3,442, 4,051 and 4,661 mm). The Chevrolet C3500 uses a different frame of the cab and chassis. The cab and chassis and C3500 rear frame rails have a standard 34-inch travel spacing and are designed to facilitate body mounting. The model frame weighs more and exits directly behind the high-mounted cab, so unmistakable filler panels are required between the bumper and grille. The front fenders also feature the same flares used on the 4x4 model light trucks to cover the increased track width and larger tires.

There is also a Brazilian version of Chevy, offered only in the US domestic market and as a Chevrolet brand in the regional export markets (basically Argentina and Uruguay). These versions are labeled 6-100 and 6-150 in a different way than the US versions, based on metric tons (slightly more than 6 tons) of approximate GVWR and PS power (100PS for the 4-cylinder version) equipped with the Maxion S4 engine and 150PS equipped with the MWM Sprint 6.07TC), always bolted to a 5-speed manual transmission.
