About BMW i3s
In 2017, the BMW i3s ("sport") was announced by BMW that it would be added to its lineup from the beginning of 2018 year. Visually, many of the chrome accents added to the regular 2018 cars were painted black on the i3s. Efforts had been made to increase power and torque output from 170 to 181 hp (127 to 135 kW) and 184 to 199 lb·ft (249 to 270 N·m). It also features a lowered sports suspension, wider model-exclusive Style 431 double-spoke wheels, and tires parts (F: 175/55R20 and R: 195/50R20, each 20 mm (0.79 in) wider than the standard tires parts fitted with Style 430 wheels), faster acceleration, and a SPORT drive mode.
The i3s have a wider track width of 1,592 or 1,578 mm compared to 1,571 or 1,576 mm for the regular i3; the total width of i3s also increases from 1,775 to 1,791 mm. The i3s offers the optional Range Extender. It offers a wide range of interior options, from the standard Mega / Atelier and Loft to Giga / Lodge and Tera / Suite. The i3s weigh approximately 20 kg (44 lb) more unloaded than the regular model.

In September 2018, the i3 was outfitted with a larger 42.2 kWh (120 Ah) battery. Minor changes had also been made, including new color options and adaptive headlights parts. The introduction of the larger battery parts followed BMW's decision to discontinue the REX version in Europe. The larger battery did not add much to the unladen weight, 1,345 kg (2,965 lb) for the regular model and 1,365 kg (3,009 lb) for the i3. From 2019 to 2021, the i3s boast battery parts of 120 Ah. It has a range of 153 mi (246 km).
As of December 2019, plans of production were continued through 2024, with no specific plans for an i3 successor. However, it is announced that in June 2021 it will stop selling the i3 in the U.S. 2021 and replace it with the iX and i4 in that market in 2022. The discontinuation of the U.S. model occurs in July 2021. The Australian model ceases production at the end of 2021.
