About BMW i3
The BMW i3 is a high-roofed B-segment hatchback manufactured and marketed by BMW. It is BMW's first zero-emission production car and will be launched as part of the i sub-brand, which includes BMW's electric cars. It consists of an aluminum sub-assembly with a chassis, battery, transmission, and gearbox. The body has two small rear doors that open backward. It was unveiled as a concept at the 2011 German Auto Show, and production began in Leipzig in September 2013. BMW i3 has been named Car of the Year twice: 2014 Environmental Car of the Year and 2014 Design Car of the Year.
In February 2011, BMW launched the i sub-brand, which sells cars produced as part of the i project. BMW i cars are sold separately from other brands. In developing the BMW i3, BMW considered the experience gained from field testing of other models. The focus was on the type of battery and propulsion system, the range, and the use of the unicycle in urban traffic. BMW unveiled the BMW i3 prototype at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, and the production version was unveiled in July 2013. It unveiled the BMW i3 Concept Coupe at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show. The automaker developed this concept car to demonstrate the model's range-extending capabilities.
