German manufacturer BMW has been producing the BMW 2 Series since 2013. The BMW 228i the cream of the crop. Although it is the successor to the 1 Series Coupe, the BMW 228i succeeds the BMW Coupe in this segment. As part of BMW's brand campaign, it commercial aired in the United States before and during NBC's broadcast of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. The convertible models are 20 percent stiffer than the E88 and feature a retractable roof that opens and closes in 20 seconds at speeds of up to 30 km/h.

When it comes to technology, the BMW 228i has no shortage of features. As for the infotainment system, my test car was equipped with BMW iDrive 7, with a 10.25-inch touchscreen in the center, a 10.25-inch digital display, and a control panel in the center console surrounded by control buttons DeepL. The display is clear, and thanks to the iDrive menu structure, navigation, the 10-speaker system, satellite radio, and Bluetooth are easy to use. Apple CarPlay is also available. Standard equipment on the 228 includes active driver assistance features such as automatic collision warning, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, speed limit warning, automatic dipped beam, parking sensors, and crossing lights. My test car also has a head-up display.
The 228i's 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine performed flawlessly. It was ready to deliver 228 hp and 258 Nm when needed. The well-tuned eight-speed automatic transmission always found the right gear, making cornering and maneuvering easy. As with all but the most expensive Bimmer models, the emphasis here is on sportiness and practicality. The whole package is very comfortable, at least for the front passengers, with plenty of head and legroom. As you'd expect, given the size of the 2 Series, rear passenger comfort depends on how generous the front passengers are.
