About Acura MDX
Japanese manufacturer Honda has been producing the Acura MDX since 2000 as part of the Acura luxury division. Its name is synonymous with multidimensional luxury. It is the second best-selling mid-size luxury SUV after the Lexus RX. It is based on Honda's global mid-size platform, on which many of the company's cars are based. It has a curb weight of 4,451 kg, a wheelbase of 106.3 inches, and a ground clearance of 8 inches. The cargo floor folds down to create two additional seats, and the vehicle itself is designed for seven passengers. However, the third row of seating is small and can only accommodate two people. This is in contrast to the Odyssey and Pilot models, which have three seats in the third row. The system also has a locking function. It can be activated and used at low speeds and corresponds to permanent four-wheel drive and a locking rear differential. It is designed for steep hills and traffic jams.
The system is a front-wheel drive, reducing engine noise and improving fuel economy during normal driving. The MDX's VTM-4 AWD system is identical to the VTM-4 systems on the Honda Pilot and Honda Ridgeline. It differs from the RealTime AWD system used on the Honda CR-V and other models. The 2004 model has two rear wheel differentials instead of one, side airbags, new headlights and taillights, and new wheels. Some chrome parts have a polished finish, while previous models had polished and bright chrome surfaces. The 2006 Acura MDX is virtually unchanged, with only minor chrome and wood trim modifications. It now has dark grey wood, the instrument panel and steering wheel are black, and the interior trim is brown.

The second-generation model has a wider body and longer wheelbase than the previous-generation Acura MDX. But it has worse rearward visibility than the previous generation. The updated Acura MDX uses Honda Advanced Compatibility Engineering body construction. It is designed to absorb energy in collisions. In addition to heated front seats, all Acura MDX models in Canada have standard heated second-row seats. Headlamps are only available on Canadian MDX models. Only two packages are available on Canadian Acura MDX models. A 7-inch touchscreen complements the interior with haptic feedback and an optional 8-inch display. The car is equipped with an acoustic windshield, acoustic front windows, thicker rear windows, and triple door frame seals to reduce interior noise. Sound insulation is further enhanced with thicker floor mats and front panels on Advance Pack models.
According to Acura, the body is more aerodynamic, with a 16 percent drag reduction. The new model can lap the Nürburgring eight seconds faster than its predecessor. The steering is nine percent quicker and offers a sportier feel. The MDX is lower, lowering the center of gravity and reducing suspension weight. The lower front control arms are forged from aluminum. The use of more bracing increases structural rigidity and reduces weight. In 2016, Acura Honda replaced the six-speed automatic transmission with a nine-speed ZF automatic transmission and redesigned the SH-AWD system. The redesigned SH-AWD system uses a hydraulic clutch. It is similar to that of the TLX.
